SEO's March 2008 Update

KSPS winter courses are well underway. Thanks to
the efforts of Lt George Tyler, JN, (Advanced Sail)
and Lt Jerry Hendrickson, JN, (Advanced Piloting),
students will soon be taking their exams and looking
forward to the summer boating season. P/C Robert
Landeros, SN has announced that the Kalamazoo
squadron will be offering the Navigation Beta Course
when it is released this spring. The beta course
means KSPS will be one of the test groups for the new
Navigation course.
KSPS winter courses are well underway. Thanks to

students will soon be taking their exams and looking

If you are beginning to plan your 2008 summer cruise or simply dreaming of cruising
sometime in the future, contact P/C Karen Strand, AP, to enroll in the next session of
Cruise Planning. Cruise Planning will begin 27 March 2008, at the Strand home in Battle
Creek, and will run for approximately 5 weeks.
With thoughts of the upcoming boating season around the corner, KSPS is offering public
boating courses in both Kalamazoo and Battle Creek. P/C Nils Strand, AP, and Lt Wally
Corder, S, deserve our ongoing thanks for their continued dedication. The Battle Creek
class with an enrollment of 15 has the final exam 6 March 2008. Please contact either
P/C Nils or Karen Strand if you can assist with proctoring the exam and greeting potential
new KSPS members.
Boat Smart in Kalamazoo starts 14 April 2008. Contact Lt Corder if you are able to
assist. Besides instructors, KSPS members can greet, help with enrollment, and assist
with knot tying the first night of class and with proctoring the exam and recruiting new
members at the final session.
