Spring Conference
4-6 April 2008
Our District Commander, Jerry Stephan, AP (Grand Traverse Bay squadron) and the
Grosse Pointe Power Squadron would like to invite all KSPS members to the Spring 2008
District Conference at the Troy Marriott 4-6 April 2008. The Troy Marriott is located just
off Interstate 75 and Big Beaver Road in Troy, Michigan.
The theme for the conference is Prohibition. Prohibition in the United States attempted to
legally ban alcohol sales and consumption. The Rhumb Runners of D/9 are planning to
keep the law at bay and ensure each District Member is offered good food, distilled
spirits and fellowship with other district members.
Friday Night is the traditional hospitality night. In keeping with the theme of the weekend,
we are asking each squadron to decorate their hospitality room in the style of a 1920’s –
1930’s speakeasy. Mobster attire is recommended, but optional. Again this year, KSPS
will co-host a hospitality suite with South Bend and Sable Point squadrons.
Saturday morning will be filled with great seminars and discussions organized and
presented by District 9 Representatives. There will be a combined social and business
lunch followed by the District’s business meeting and the election of the 2008 District
Bridge.
Saturday evening will be our gathering at the Greendoor Speakeasy. You must know the
password to enter and hang out with the District Mob. It will be a strolling dinner and a
chance to meet other D/9 mobsters and discuss you best bribe or hit. Entertainment will
be Tom Saunders, an authentic jazz band. Come dressed in your zoot suite or flapper
outfit. To ensure the safety of all of our patrons, please check your revolvers and Tommy
guns at the door!
